Connecting fans, student-athletes, and charities to impact Atlanta
What is Atlanthropy?
Adapted from the Oxford Dictionary:
the desire to promote the welfare of others in the great city of Atlanta, expressed especially by the generous donation of time, effort, and money to good causes throughout the ATL
"George P. Burdell acquired a considerable fortune and was noted for his Atlanthropy"
Origin: North American (the southern part but still above the gnat line, y'all)
Jackets for Atlanthropy organizes and financially backs activities designed for Georgia Tech student-athletes and fans to engage in charitable work or fundraising in Atlanta. Our efforts support local charities and afford the opportunity for athletes to receive compensation for use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). Below is a sample of Atlanta charities with which we have been in contact and are developing partnerships.
Who's got next?
If you're associated with a charity in the Atlanta area that you believe might be interested in partnering with us, please let us know. We would love to explore that opportunity!
We are pleased to announce that The Georgia Tech Fans Club has graciously offered up to four complementary tickets to the Georgia Tech versus Western Carolina football game to anyone who signs up and attends one of our upcoming charity events. The game takes place on Saturday, September 10th with kickoff time TBA. Offer available while the GT Fan Club's allotment of tickets remains.
Yellow Jacket fans,
The landscape of college sports is changing rapidly. The future of Georgia Tech athletics hangs in the balance, and now is your chance to play a part in steering the program towards success. This effort will not prosper if Tech fans remain onlookers from the sidelines. We need your full participation to bring home victories for Georgia Tech student-athletes and Atlanta charities. Here's how you can help:
Sign up for an event
Participate in a charitable activity or fundraiser alongside Georgia Tech student-athletes and enjoy perks such as autograph sessions at select events. Spots are limited for some functions.
Make a financial contribution
Your contributions are tax-deductible, and Jackets for Atlanthropy makes donating simple.
Apply to join our volunteer staff
Whether you have expertise in engineering, computer science, or just a helpful attitude, please consider a role in what is currently our greatest area of need.
Spread the good word
Share about Jackets for Atlanthropy by word of mouth and on social media. Follow us on Twitter for updates on charity & athlete partners, additions to our team, events, and more!
Your gifts are 100% tax-deductible, and you will receive a receipt for each contribution to keep for your tax records. We accept both credit card and direct deposit. One-hundred percent of the funds in this account are dispersed directly to our partnering charities who, in turn, compensate student-athletes via approved NIL channels for their work when they participate in a charity activity.
When you click the 'donate' button below you will be taken to our Giving Fund donor portal. In order to help us start off strong but also budget for the future, please consider portioning your gift with a larger one-time donation followed by setting-up recurrent smaller contributions.
Regardless of how you choose to give, Georgia Tech fans, athletes, and Atlanta area charities are very thankful for your support. For more information on our Giving Fund, why we have selected NCF to host the fund, and other details on our processes, please check out our FAQ link.
How much should I give?
That's entirely up to you. Some donor perks are available at higher tier giving levels (see below), but there is no minimum or maximum amount. Our vision is for all 549 student-athletes (at last count) at Georgia Tech to have the opportunity to benefit from NIL earnings. This vision can be accomplished for less than you might think, and Jackets for Atlanthropy gives you the chance to do your part. The Georgia Tech Fact Book estimated in 2021 that there were over 175,000 living Georgia Tech alumni. While we're grateful there are many Georgia Tech sports fans beyond the number of alumni, if, for example, just 175,000 supporters were able to donate $15 per month, accounting for the small fraction of your donation portioned to charities to cover facility fees, supplies, etc. (see the FAQ page for details), then each Georgia Tech student-athlete could earn $50,000 per year through NIL. Think about the impact that would have on the trajectory of the program at just $15 per month!
and above per year
All contributions are valued and appreciated. Our donor portal provides options for one-time, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, or yearly giving or any combination of the above.
